About

A small team,
making a small tool,
that respects your time.

The story

It started as a frustration.

Every site blocker on the market charges a monthly subscription to do — let us check the spec sheet — block sites. A function the browser already has, essentially for free. Paying $7 a month, forever, for a glorified hosts file felt insulting.

And the free tiers were designed to fail. Three rules. One profile. No schedules. So you cave and pay, or you give up. Neither outcome is "I focused on my work today."

So we rebuilt the category the way a modern product team would have: clean tokens, real typography, local-first storage. Free to use, $6/yr or $19 once if you want the rest. No monthly subscription, ever.

By the numbers

What we are, in four lines.

The honest version of an "About" page is usually a number sheet. Here is ours.

Principles

What we believe, in four lines.

A small product needs a small number of strong opinions. These are ours, in the order they affect what we build.

  1. 01 / 04

    Design is the product.

Most site blockers look like they were touched last in 2011. A tool you spend your day with should at least be pleasant to open. We treat typography, spacing, and motion as features.

  2. 02 / 04

    Local-first, always.

Block rules, schedules, and statistics live in your browser. The optional sync goes through your own account, end-to-end. We cannot read your block list — and would not want to.

  3. 03 / 04

    Lifetime means lifetime.

Pay once, keep it forever, including future features. If we ever raise the price, people who bought before keep their deal. It is in the terms of service, not a marketing line.

  4. 04 / 04

    We do less, on purpose.

Every site blocker eventually adds a Pomodoro, a journal, a habit tracker, a coach, an AI. We will ship a smaller surface, better. Less software is more focus.

A note

Tokyo, JP

Hi.

Foclock started because I — the designer who built it — kept losing afternoons to sites I had explicitly tried to stop visiting. The blockers I bought treated me like a subscriber to maintain, not a person to help. So I made the one I wanted. The pricing is to cover the domain, the server, and to be honest about who this is for.

What we do not do

A short list of things we will never ship.

Every product page tells you what is included. The honest move is to also tell you what is not — and why we are not budging.

  • A monthly subscription

Discipline as a SaaS was always a strange idea. We are not going to ask you to renew the right to block Twitter.

  • Selling your data

There is nothing to sell, because there is nothing collected. Your block list stays in your browser.

  • Trial-only free tier

The free tier is real, forever. Block patterns, schedules, 10-language UI — not locked.

  • Engagement-maximising dark patterns

No streaks designed to guilt you. No notifications that exist only to pull you back.

  • Cross-session tracking

No anonymous IDs, no fingerprinting, no "we just count opens for product reasons."

  • A roadmap dictated by investors

We have not taken outside money and do not plan to. Users pay; the roadmap follows users.

The whole pitch fits in one line.
